Relaxing Sedation Options
If you experience anxiety or restlessness when visiting the dentist, you’re not alone. Many patients experience dental anxiety, but at Capstone Dentistry, you have options to help you make it through your appointment relaxed and carefree. Sedation dentistry is one of those options. We offer three types of sedation for your convenience. Your doctor will help you decide which is right for you!
- Nitrous Oxide Sedation – This method relaxes you and helps to alleviate anxiety while allowing you to remain awake and responsive. Unlike oral conscious sedation, you’ll be back to normal within a few minutes once the mask that administers the gas is removed.
- Oral Conscious Sedation – Similar to nitrous oxide sedation, this option relaxes you and helps to alleviate anxiety, but allows you to remain conscious and responsive for situations that require it. You’ll be unable to drive after oral conscious sedation, so be sure to bring a trusted ride!
- IV Sedation – The deepest form of sedation. This method administers medication directly into your bloodstream via IV. This causes relaxation and alleviates severe anxiety. It’s very common to fall asleep and not remember the procedure or time you were asleep with this form of sedation. Similar to oral conscious sedation, you’ll need someone to drive you home after receiving this treatment.
